MCRA TRACK DAY REQUIREMENTS For those that need assistance in preparing their bike for the track, the MCRA will be holding a "Bike Prep" class 1-3 weeks before each track event. See the link below for: Track Day Bike Prep Dates, Places and Times. There have been a few changes to the MCRA Track Day requirements for the 2008 season. The changes were well discussed and board approved to assist in giving everyone the most possible track time while also making the events safer for all. These changes are minor and will not require much time in prepping your bike for a fun-filled day at the track. THE FOLLOWING WILL BE ENFORCED For a complete listing of preparing yourself and your bike for the MCRA Track Day please read: Click Here >>> The MCRA Track Day hand out <<< Click Here NO ANTIFREEZE ALLOWED Antifreeze is very hard to clean off of the track surfaces. Also, any leak will eventually get to the rear tire. This will cause a decrease in traction and eventually an upset. It IS very slippery and requires quite a bit of time to clean up when it is on the track surface. It is because of the hazard that is produced from a spill that the MCRA Track Day bikes will NO LONGER be allowed to run any Ethylene-glycol based antifreeze. There are several alternative additives that can be used or you can just run water for the day. Changing out your fluid and flushing your cooling system will only take a few minutes of your time. BASIC
3 SAFETY WIRING Again, oil is also hard to clean off of the track surfaces. Also, any oil leak will eventually get to the rear tire. This will cause a decrease in traction and eventually an upset. MCRA Track Day bikes will require a minimal amount of safety wiring. We will only require the Basic 3 (oil filter, oil drain plug and oil fill cap) be safety wired. You will be running your bike hard for an extended period of time and things can vibrate loose! The safety wiring will help in preventing an unwanted oil spill, which can cause an upset (CRASH) and the loss of track time for all. It has been brought to our attention that some may not want holes drilled on their bikes. There is an alternative to comply with this ruling and still have your bike appear as though it has never been "RACE WIRED". When wiring your bike, ONLY drill the wire mounting holes in easily replaceable parts such as bolts. To convert your bike back to the "UN-RACED LOOK", just replace the bolts that where drilled. Simple and Cheap. If you need help or assistance with any of these requirements, please post up on our board. Below are some basic pictures of a safety wired bike:
