August TD

Postby tittys04 » Thu Jul 22, 2010 11:21 am

Hey Guys,

I'm going to do my first day with your org on the 14th of August and I was just curious about a few things.

First of all, I've seen that the track opens up at 7am, but that seems to me like it doesn't leave much time to set up, tech, and go to riders meeting/track walk. Does the track ever open before 7am?

And I also saw on another thread that some people set up the track the night before, and then can leave their bikes there overnight. I could help set up on Friday night, but I'm also going to the Cubs/Cards game on Friday night, so I was curious if I would have enough time to help set up and still make the game.

I don't know what Gateway's policys are, but has anyone thought of opening up the track the night before for campers to enter? I know this depends mainly on track policies/restrictions/etc, but most tracks out east do this and it helps people that are travelling any amount of distance a LOT.

Anyways, hope I'm not rocking the boat too much, look forward to tearing it up with you guys!

I don't think you will have time to help set up the track if you plan on going to the ballgame. Gateway does not allow over nite camping. The track usually goes green at 8am and the expert riders are first out followed by intermediate then novice. I think the gates are opening at 6:30 am now. I hope this information doesn't sway you not to come out as I am sure you would get plenty of track time and enjoy yourself and the MCRA

If you aren't ready by the first session, skip it. There are plenty of sessions and the heat may thin the herd by the afternoon anyway and give you some more open track.

Yeah, I found another thread somewhere on here and the timeframe given in that one was it taking about 3 hours to set up, so I probably won't be able to help with that... I got free tickets to the Cubs/Cards game so I can't pass that up.

And you're right, I don't have a problem skipping a session, but I like to get my $$ worth if I can. The one thing that I was kind of bummed about after moving to A with NESBA is the 20 fewer minutes to get ready in the morning. Oh well, no biggie, I'll still be there and can't wait to show that track who's boss ;)

I'm the guy on a white 600rr with red wings on the tank (#519 with yellow plates) and a white duramax and white 6x12 enclosed. Haven't been to any tracks in the mid-west yet so come by and say hi. Looking forward to meeting some new peeps. Oh, and if someone wants to pull me around the track for a session or two in the morning, I wouldn't turn you down ~boobs
