http://www.trackdaymag.com/Articles/The-Extra-Crewman(2).aspx This is an article about how to handle a newcomer to your riding group. Opinions? Hopefully not ~bh

So very true!

I am not the fastest or most experienced rider in the groups that I have ridden. I will generally take the back of the group to watch the others. There have been times where I have had to overtake another rider to get them to slow down and begin riding more in their limits.

I love group rides. I love dialing up occasionally. And I really like it when everyone makes it back home.

The shortest distance from point A to point B is a straight line. I will take the long way!

It's sobering to try to think that you have so much responsibility for a new rider in your group. Really, which of us wouldn't have seen that morning speech as somewhat of a challenge if for no other reason than to not look like a newb.

Good food for thought. I've seen more than my share of extra crewmen ball up their new bikes. I'm probably just lucky to have never fallen off while at the back of a group of faster riders (which pretty much includes.... all riders). :P
